Come hangout at Hangout Beach, Music and Arts Festival 2013

There are festivals in the snow, in the city and in the rural countryside, but not many music festivals have their venue on the beach. Enter: The Hangout Beach, Music and Arts Festival. It will be taking place on May 17, 18 and 19 and early-bird tickets sold out within the first day of going on sale. Tickets are still available at the highest tier of $229. Travel packages and VIP passes are still available as well.

Started in 2010, Hangout is unlike any other. From its inception, it has attracted people from all over the country and brought huge musical acts ranging from rock to indie to jam to electro. The fact that this festival is located directly on the beach in the city of Gulf Shores entices me to the fullest. Not to mention, the lineup this year exceeded all of my expectations and included some bands that have been on my bucket list for an excruciatingly long time.

Two months away, one of the headliners for this year’s festival has yet to be announced, but others include Tom Petty and The HeartbreakersKings of LeonTrey Anastasio BandThe Shins and Bassnectar. Supporting acts include Slightly StoopidBloc PartyPublic EnemyPassion PitPorter RobinsonSteve AokiEllie Goulding,The Black Crowes and more.

This is not a camping festival, so you’ll have to find lodging on your own. However, there are certain hotels that partner with Hangout in order to give you the best experience possible. Check out their suggestions HERE.

And be warned! If this is your first time at Hangout, there is no parking at the venue. You can find parking by your own measures, but Hangout encourages you to use the shuttle system. A shuttle pass is $50 and includes unlimited transportation to and from the festival with different stops in the area, but passes are only valid for the route you purchase.

Please remember that this city has opened its beach for this festival to be possible and littering is not cool. Throw away your trash and recycle! Do your part in preserving this beautiful place.
