Gainesville nightlife is full of choices and options to chose from. There are publications dedicated to bringing you all the choices one might have when preparing for a night out in the swamp. However, there is a new club that has opened in downtown: Club Stereo. Connected to The Vault, Club Stereo is located at 233 West University Ave and can hold over 800 people.
Club Stereo started off with a night last week dedicated to Afrojack. This Thursday the new hotspot will be holding one of it’s first concerts, Midnight Conspiracy, thanks to Neon Liger, Limitless Entertainment, Dope Entertainment, and Hau5 Music Entertainment. With an enormously outrageous 16 feet LED pyramid and laser structure, known as the “Eye Live ▲ Laser Lightshow,” be prepared to rage, dance and have your face melted off.
Based out of Chicago, Midnight Conspiracy debuted in January 2010 and is made up of Lois Kha, Mikul Wing and Graham Geren. They crept up to fame with their remix of Chromeo’s song “Night By Night” and a remix of Crystal Castle’s “Crimewave.”
With multiple side projects, like their Dead Fame clothing line, brand, collective, and street art, the group has caught the eye of many interested in electronic music. Performing live shows that supposedly reside in the realms of insanity, Midnight Conspiracy has included their “eye” to induce a “complete audio and visual experience,” says Kha in an interview on Chicago’s WBEZ 91.5 Eight Forty-Eight show, as he spun an hour long set.
As their sound has progressed over the last couple of years, Midnight Conspiracy has yet to disappoint. They’ve made it clear that DJs are not confined to one genre. Their electro is hard, filthy and grungy. Their dubstep is deep, well executed and heavy-hitting.
In their short musical careers, they have hit Hype Machine’s Top 5 six times. They’ve traveled to over 50 cities on two continents. They hit #2 on Beatport’s dubstep chart. They’ve been featured on BBC Radio 1.
Oh, and did I mention that they’ve attended festivals like Lollapalooza, Ultra Music Festival, North Coast Music Festival and World Electronic Music Festival. On top of that, they have performed with the likes of Deadmau5, MSTRKRFT, Steve Aoki, The Bloody Beetroots, A-Trak, Bassnectar, Rusko, The Crystal Method and Digitalism, just to name a few.
Openers at Thursday’s show will include Le Neon Liger’s DJ Vi, The Gainesvillain’s DJ Shaan Saigol and Wet Paint’s DJ GPS. Tickets are online HERE for an advanced price of $10, but hard tickets can be purchased at Downtown Convenience (across the street from Spannk) without having to pay fees. Doors are at 9 p.m. Check out their Soundcloud HERE to download some of their songs for free.
