Womp, Womp Womp

Basnnectar proved his talent on Friday at the Alachua County Fair Grounds. One of the more diverse and intricate sets I’ve seen him play, he was on point throughout the night. If you have followed Bassnectar from the start of his career, you could notice the progress and sophistication that he been able to achieve through his development as a dubstep artist.

His massive 2-and-a-half hour set left me wanting more and more. I was extremely surprised to hear him play a crazy edit of Funkagenda’s “What The Fuck.” The last song he played, his remix of Bassment Jaxx’s “Where’sYour Head At?,” was a perfect ending to an outrageous night. Bassnectar was able to play pretty much the song that everyone was secretly hoping to hear.

No matter when I see Bassnectar, he always puts on an amazing show that results in a great time. The Florida shows are just the beginning of his tour. Make sure you catch him in your part of the country!

The Hood Internet @ Double Down 10/12

Standard

Grooveshark presented Gainesville with it’s first The Hood Internet show last Wednesday. Not only was this show one huge dance party, The Hood Internet threw down like none other! This was the first time I saw the duo with only one member show up and it was quite interesting.

Cassolette, Bang Bang Boom and Nicos Gun all provided the crowd with great music although they weren’t quite the genre I was looking for to perform with The Hood Internet. Nicos Gun was able to stay on stage and play live instrumentals as ABX (the member of the Hood Internet) DJed.

The Hood Internet’s sense of mixing all types of genres never ceases to amaze me. If you don’t like a new pop song, the Hood Internet will make you like it. www.thehoodinternet.com has a huge assortment of different songs that they have mashed together for free!

Divergent Spectrum Tour 2011

Standard

Bassnectar is coming to Florida with his Divergent Spectrum tour that is starting this week. There will be a total of 5 shows in Florida. His first stop will be in 2 days in Pensacola, FL (10/19), then Orlando at House of Blues (10/20), Gainesville at the Alachua County Fair Grounds (10/21), Miami Beach at the Fillmore (10/22), and finally his last stop in the sunshine state is St. Petersburg (10/23).

If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing Bassnectar live, go to one of his shows to get your mind blown because there are plenty of opportunities. In my opinion, Bassnectar is the one of the fathers of dubstep. He was the first to start experimenting and the first to become a prominent artist in the genre. Bassnectar is continuously coming out with original and new music that invigorates your senses.

Even if dubstep isn’t your thing, you should give Bassnectar a chance because he might just surprise you with what he can do musically. Tickets for the Gainesville show are $30 and can be found here. Doors are at 7 pm. This show is bound to sell-out! Don’t miss this event; it will be one wild night.
