Swamp Party

The north of Florida has been known for it’s southern style, small no-name towns and universities. A couple of years ago, you couldn’t pay Tiesto, Steve Aoki, or any other big names a million dollars to play a show in a middle-of-nowhere college town. However, that has recently changed. The music business realized that most of their fans reside in college towns, hence bringing more acts to smaller towns plagued with college students.

The newest weekly electronic event that has been added to Gainesville’s list is Electric Swamp. Happening every Tuesday night at Spannk in downtown, this event is being provided by Organic Vision Presents, Dope Entertainment, Neon Liger and Charles Bilsker. You should expect an intimate environment that allows one to escape the ordinary. DJ Hart is one of two openers that will be apart of this event. For all you bassheads, this DJ has an exceptional talent with the art of dubstep.

For their first show, Electric Swamp has snagged the very talented Martyparty. From South Africa, this guy does not play around. He is motivated to bring his crowd on a emotional musical experience with him while creating a huge dance party at the same time. Martyparty is also apart of PANTyRAiD with Ooah from The Glitch Mob. Along with that, he also just teamed up with Minnesota and formed the group Deathstar. The music that is created by Martyparty, whether it be with PANTyRAiD, Deathstar or solo work, always is something refreshing and new. With Electric Swamp bringing in an innovator of dubstep for their very first show, it leaves us wondering what else they have in store for the rest of the year. Come find out!
