Let the festivities begin! Part deux

Here’s the second installment of previews of North American summer music festivals. The second half of summer seems to be crazier, more intense and more fun. What are you going to do this summer?

Camp Bisco

Right outside of Albany, New York, Camp Bisco is yet another festival celebrating it’s 10th year. Created by the Disco Biscuits, Camp Bisco is a three-day camping festival. This year it will be held on July 7-9th, taking place at a country club. Three-day general admission is $160. There are five stages and most excitingly, a silent disco! Artists include Cut Copy, Death From Above 1979, MSTRKRFT, Ghostland Observatory, Rusko, Wolfgang Gartner, Nero, a Mad Decent Tent, Harvard Bass, Skrillex, Run DMT, The Magician, Nadastrom and of course, the Disco Biscuits.

August  5-7th, in Chicago, marks the 20th anniversary of Lollapalooza. Taking place in Grant Park, which is over a mile wide, Lolla is a revolutionary festival. Personally experiencing how overwhelming such a huge festival is, Lollapalooza is nothing like any other festival. There was a $60 secret sale that sold out and the general admission sold out by 10 a.m. the morning tickets went on sale. You can now get them for $215. Perry’s Tent includes artists like Afrojack, Skrillex, Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77, Joachim Garraurd, Glitch Mob, Busy P, Girl Talk, Modeselektor and Daedelus among others. Main stages include the Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Deadmau5, Bright Eyes, Arctic Monkeys, Ratatat, Crystal Castles and a ton more. Lollapalooza is definitely a contender for best music festival. Ever.

Hard Summer

In Los Angeles, on August 6th, Hard will be having it’s summer festival with possibly one of the best line-ups of the summer. Headlining is Duck Sauce and Boys Noize. Other artists include, Ratatat (live), Chromeo (live), Skrillex, Digitalism (live), Jack Beats, Caspa, Nero, Carte Blanche (live), Busy P(ictionary), Emalkay, Gaslamp Killer, Nadastrom, Destructo, Dillion Francis, Shit Robot and Acid Jacks all in one day!! Tickets are $60. If you can or are able to go to this show, do it!

Outside Lands

San Fransisco is hosting this music, food, wine and art festival. It starts on August 12th and goes through the 14th. The website is very informative, check there for info. Located in Golden Gate Park, this seems like the perfect festival for those of you who want diverse things to do. With it’s history based in ecological improvement, Outside Lands seems to be based around the local population. Tickets are at the highest price of $200 and the line up includes Phish, Deadmau5, STS9, The Shins, MGMT, Girl Talk, Erykah Badu, Big Boi, Major Lazer and more.

Identity Festival

The festival name is ironic due to the fact that Identity Festival has no website or information other than Facebook and Twitter. They only have a line-up. It includes Kaskade, Pretty Lights, Rusko, Avicii, Steve Aoki, Disco Biscuits, Skrillex, Pete Tong, Chuckie, Booka Shade, Modeselector, The Crystal Method, Erol Alkan, Datsik, Nero, LA Riots and more. This is the debut year for this festival and it will be traveling to 20 North American cities that will be announced soon. Identity is America’s first traveling, all electronic tour and will take place between August and September. Rumors are that not all headliners will make it to all 20 shows, but there is no definitive word on anything…
